Bring Back the Freak Show

Remember the fat lady in the circus? Perhaps not. She started a new job as a Victoria’s Secret model. Now, rather than receiving the stares and pointed fingers of children as a traveling curiosity, she’s paid to model—yes, model—her body as the ideal shape for all women, young and old, to aspire to. We’ve done this with nearly all our social and cultural ills. It’s time to send them back to the circus, where they belong.
