Why would anyone travel to Kurdistan? Sounds remote, backward, and, quite frankly, dangerous. Probably full of terrorists and IEDs. Does it even have an airport, or do tourists have to get there by camel?

I admit that I asked myself these questions as recently as three months ago. Having just returned from Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan, I can say from personal experience that each of these beliefs was dead wrong. One might even say misinformation.
