Fallen Physicians

I received yet another phone call from someone with direct knowledge of a betrayal by an American physician. This time, though, it came from the wife of a child psychiatrist I have known for over ten years. What she told me about her husband, a colleague and practicing clinician, horrified me.

Until 2020, this man had been caring for patients appropriately and ethically. In fact, I had referred some of my own patients to the intensive outpatient and residential treatment program that he directed. The reports I received about the care provided by him and the program were all exemplary.
